The US Customs Service was created on July 31, 1789, to collect import tariffs. The Investigative Arm was the Customs Agency Service, Customs Agents, and later GS 1811 Criminal Investigators.
Agents served along the Southern Border as did Agents of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Bureau of Narcotics, Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, Immigration Investigators, The Drug Enforcement Administration, and Others.
This website is dedicated to GS 1811 Agents who served on the US/Mexican Border. Those who have been stationed and worked there for at least 3 years, at any time, or had direct supervision over such Agents qualify as Regular Members. We invite others to join us in this fraternal organization as Associate Members.

Hello, Fellow Rats!!!
The 2026 FOBA Board Meeting that everyone is invited to will be held on September 21, 2026 in New Orleans.
The Meeting will be as follows:
Drive or fly into New Orleans, Louisiana, on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
Then drive or take a taxi or Uber to the Astor Crown Plaza hotel, located at 739 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA. The hotel is directly across from the entrance to Bourbon Street.
The Meeting will begin at 10:00 am on Monday, September 21, 2026, in a meeting room reserved for FOBA. The evening of September 21, 2026, will include the Border Rats Board dinner with everyone at a local New Orleans Restaurant. Some members are scheduling the World War II museum after the meeting or on Tuesday
Drive or Fly Home on Wednesday, September, 23, 2026.
